Grad Parent Night Q & A

The following questions were raised by parents in attendance at our Graduation Parent Night.

Q: What speeches will take place at both events?

A:

Morning Convocation:

  • Guest Speaker– There is an invited guest speaker at this event
  • Valedictorian– The Class of 2023 Valedictorian will speak at this event

 Evening Celebration:

  • The Winners of The ChurchillAward will speak in the evening
  • There will be “toasts” and “replies” at this evening event

Q: Can we purchase the photos taken at convocation and the celebration?

A: Yes, from Life Touch. There will be a handshake photo at convocation (the photo when the graduate and Advisor shake hands on stage) and after they are off the stage at the evening celebration. There will also be an entire grad group photo taken before the Convocation. This will be available to purchase as well.

Q: When do they get their cap and gown?

A: During exam week there will be one or two pick up days. Tip: you can see legs and feet beneath the gown, so dress accordingly.

Q: When will the link to the livestream be sent out?

A: The link to the livestream will be emailed to parents once the website is established and setup. This might be the week of Grad but will be before June 27th.

Q: How long is the evening program before the dance?

A: 2-2 ½ hours. It will be done before 9pm.

Q: Are the concessions going to be open?
A: Yes. Coffee, tea, pop, popcorn, and other easy items will be available to purchase. You can bring outside food like Starbucks or Tims.

Q: Will the video be available after grad?

A: Yes, we will email the link to the downloadable recording of the Livestream event. Aaron will post the link to the download in the Grade 12 Information TEAM as well.

Q: Do we need to supply the grad photo for the PowerPoint at Convocation?

A: No. Lifetouch will send us the grad photo proofs that we will then add to the PowerPoint.

Q: Do we need parent volunteers?

A: As of right now, we are still planning what we want the evening portion to look like. Once our student grad committee finalizes things, we may reach out to parents for some help. I will send an update on this when I get more information.

Q: Do we keep the cap and gown?

A: Yes. Your grad fee covers the cap, tassel, and gown. Students will keep those 3 items.
